Academic IELTS Task 1 model answer 1 - Publishing a book

The diagram below shows the process of publishing a book.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The diagram illustrates the process of developing a manuscript into a published book.

The process begins with the initial writing, which is then sent to a publishing house for assessment. If necessary the material is then returned for revisions by the writer and this cycle of the process is repeated until it passes the assessment stage.

Following that, the project is discussed in pre-production meetings. Once a schedule has been arranged, a team is brought together for production, and the work is edited and produced in galley stage. The next step is to send this to the editor and the writer, following which illustrations are commissioned and the work is checked by the author and editor. This is then converted into first page proofs which are once again checked by both the editor and author before moving on to second page proofs.

The process is concluded when these proofs are sent to the printer.

  1. Nowadays does not exist a general guide to write a book that all of the autors folow and use, for that reason, the way that the author use to write a book, it is keeping controversial. The flowchart ilustrates some steps like how a book is published by an author take to get a good book. This essay wil sumarise main information about this topic.

First, in this guide, the author starts to write a manuscript to be in a constant reviews. Writing and reviewing should be permanent in this process, then the author need to improve your writings by other people who are called “the team”, they will be working in a production part.

Secondly, the team work in a galerry stage, therefor, this part needs to be revalueated to continue with the last check by author and editor and in a finally step, if they feel that it is correct, the book will be print.

In conclusion, Should the author follow these steps? This essay discussed one guide to write a book.

    • Hi Angie,

Be careful of spelling! (Gallery, not galerry). If you want more a more in-depth review of your writing, then you can add writing assessment to your account.

      All the best,
